A 49-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty, was escorted back to her home as police investigate the alleged slaughter of a dog whose bones appear to have been used to make Vietnamese noodle soup for customers.
A Vietnamese grocery store in Sham Shui Po, owned by the suspect surnamed Lai allegedly served up the dish after killing a dog in an alley.
A resident posted photos on social media that led to the arrest. Lai, who lives on Nam Cheong Street, Sham Shui Po, has not been charged and was released on bail last night. She was ordered to report back to police in mid-May.
