Guide dog stabbed in Japan as it led owner to work

Absolutely disgusting……

Attack on Oscar, a nine-year-old Labrador, who suffered multiple stab wounds, discovered only when a sighted colleague of the owner noticed dog’s injuries.

Police are investigating the stabbing of a guide dog, in Saitama Prefecture, near Tokyo, in Japan, during its owner’s morning commute to work, investigators said today.

The police have yet to determine the precise location of the attack in July by an unidentified assailant, they said.

The dog, a nine-year-old male Labrador retriever called Oscar, apparently did not make any noise during the attack, they said. Guide dogs are trained not to bark unless their owners are in danger.

The dog’s owner, who is blind, left his home with Oscar at about 11am. on July 28, and took a train from JR Urawa Station to Kawaguchi Station. After arriving at his workplace, a colleague noticed the dog’s injuries.

The dog, which sustained multiple stab wounds in the attack, received treatment and has returned to work, the police said.

Investigators have been reviewing security camera footage and interviewing potential witnesses.
