Another litter of guide dog puppies are due to arrive in Hong Kong and will be needing temporary homes with people who are willing to care for them in the early stages of they very important career.
With the support of HKGDA’s highly trained staff, volunteer puppy raisers will help the young pups socialize until they are about 12 – 14 months of age. While living with the foster family, these pups will be house trained and learn how to walk correctly on a leash. While also providing the young pups with a wide range of social experiences they are likely to encounter during training and subsequent work as a Guide Dog. Socialization includes visiting shopping areas, train stations and city centers (like Mongkok, Tsim Sha Tsui and Causeway Bay) so that they can become accustomed to everyday life.
